Thanks all for the replies, so I checked two other VW dealers in same region, both offered same service at £150
So over 100 pound cheaper!!!
I called the original dealer to ask why the huge discrepancy, they said "labour costs".... I think I will write to VW customer service thats ridiculous, nearly twice the price

I wouldn’t waste your time writing to VW, just find a local independent specialist with a good reputation - better service and reduced costs.

Are you still using VW World at Stockport Adam? I am at Bury so looking for somewhere local.

I am indeed, was there in December for MOT, Service, DSG Service and Diff service. Usual good service and reasonable price. Going back next month for an oil service👍

Do not use Stockport, absolutely the worst service I have ever we experienced. I used Oldham VW this month and was very impressed. They charged me £109 for the diff service.

Strange, never an issue in 4 years on my GTI or wife’s Polo, only difficulty is booking in as they get really busy? Are you referring to VW world near Bredbury and what’s the name of the place you go to in Oldham?

Useful thread. Mine goes in for service today so very interested in quoted costs. Paid £120 three years ago.

So quoted £252. Double 3 years ago!  Labour costs increase in national insurance!! Declined their service. Took 3 hours for a oil service despite a booked slot. Be going elsewhere next year.

Maybe Reddreels is referring to Inchcape Stockport? I bought my GTI from them new, all good. Experience of service minimal as only had oil changes and minor services. As soon as out of VW / Dealer warranty, straight to independent VW World.

Yes you are correct, it is now Group1 but the staff are still that same regrettably. Moving from the Audi dealer network to VW I was shocked at how bad their service was and believed it must be a difference in brand. I used them twice and had the same 20 something service advisor who is clueless and tried to. Entire into a car discussion with no knowledge.
VW Oldham very much returned my faith in the experience with my recent service. Knowledgable, friendly and care about your experience as a VW owner. I will never set foot in Stockport and will take both our VWs to Oldham in future

Redreels, if you ever want to try an independent service garage I can recommend VW World. All the staff are VW fanatics and the fact that you talk to the actual guy that actually works on your car to me is priceless and the labour rates are a lot lower👍

Just serviced my car today and did the VAQ diff oil change, i last did it in 2022 and covered about 10k since.

Dropped the pump out and there was a bit of sludge on the gauze filter and in the housing, nothing really but was surprised to see any as I'd cleaned the pump before.

Done now for another 3 years at least.
