Dealer wanting £260 for this, seems expensive compared to what is quoted online at other dealers. Anyone have any experience of it? is this normal?

Less than half that at a local independent who will also clean the filter.

I was quoted £160 at my local VW dealer and surprisingly £180 at a local independent.

Recently paid about £155 for the front diff service at VW dealer in Hertfordshire so that does sound more than most usually charge.

Wherever you take it, ask to ensure they clean the mesh filter as apparently it can be easily missed👍

Thanks all for the replies, so I checked two other VW dealers in same region, both offered same service at £150
So over 100 pound cheaper!!!
I called the original dealer to ask why the huge discrepancy, they said "labour costs".... I think I will write to VW customer service thats ridiculous, nearly twice the price

I wouldn’t waste your time writing to VW, just find a local independent specialist with a good reputation - better service and reduced costs.

Useful thread. Mine goes in for service today so very interested in quoted costs. Paid £120 three years ago.
Mk6 GTI Carbon Grey, 2010 Bluetooth and voice fitted, a few VCDS mods still a comfortable family car. Red Scirocco 2011 twin charger stage 1 - enjoyable drive now gone.  White 2016 Polo GTI (roller skate on steroids) replaced with an Indium Grey 2019 7.5 GTI PP.

Are you still using VW World at Stockport Adam? I am at Bury so looking for somewhere local.
