Ignition key
« on: 11 May 2025, 09:04 »
Just thought I would post this as ref
Key on our Polo Blue GT (same key as 7 or 7.5)was not always locking or unlocking on the buttons.

Called VW to get price on the buttons section as thought this was the problem hopefully, for a laugh and sat down for a price.
"You can't buy any parts you need the complete key its £374and £89 to code it" said the grumpy tw#t in parts!

After laughing at his stupid price I bid him a cheery goodbye! 🤣🤣

Ordered this

https://ebay.us/m/aihdj5

Came 2 days later fitted perfect and key is like brand new well worth a go if anyone has any issues or just needs a key refresh👍

Not connected to ad in any way as you can get them elsewhere maybe even cheaper but just thought I would share the info.

Appreciated. I did similar and I think I may have used the same seller. Always a gamble knowing how durable these aftermarket parts are. I only phone VW these days to understand where the ceiling in shameless extortion is. Guess the parts guy is worn down by people phoning and then going 'how much?'

And get one of those silicone GTI covers for a few £ and it will stay like new.
