Emotion Start
« on: 02 March 2025, 09:12 »
I accidentally discovered a new feature in my 8.5 GTI yesterday so wanted to share it in case anybody else didn’t know

There is something called an ‘emotion start’ which revs more and sounds great when starting up your engine I even got a couple of pops and bangs which is great to annoy your fave neighbours on a cold start

To do this you need to hold the start button for a couple of seconds (without having your foot on the break) then press down on the brake until the engine starts

Interesting, just tried it myself!  Adds a little more to the 8.5 which is defiantly quieter on cold startup that my previous 7.5

Is this just an 8.5 thing or on the 8.0 also? I was wondering if what mine does is usual, on a cold start if I leave the car running, sometimes the revs just up to 1500 approx and after a while drop down again, first time it did this I thought someone was in the car!

Nice! Will have to give it a try - does anything come up on the Dash when this kicks in to notify you it's a different start mode?
it's quite barky on normal start up imo so interested to see what this is like.

It's just an 8.5 thing. The random rev'ing up to 1500 when idling is normal, they all do that.

Ok thanks for the info, good to know the random revving is normal and not an issue!
