New Owner Mk8 CS

East Midlands based and recently picked up 23 plate Clubsport

Previously owned all sorts of cars including Porsche, Lotus, fast Fords, Renault etc. This is my first VW and so far very impressed.

Apologies for the crappy photo but the only one I currently have.

The only thing I don’t like is the Richmond wheels, looking to change to 18 or 19 spoked wheel such as Scottsdale or Pretoria.

Nice to see a photo of the car, I’m a big fan of moonstone.
You’ve had some pretty impressive cars so the Clubsport has a lot to live up to!
When I first drove off the forecourt in December 2020 in one of the first UK mk8 Clubsports I only got a quarter of a mile up the road and thought there just felt something very right about the car. Not sure if it was the heated steering wheel or the engine/suspension combo! I kept that car 3 years which is a record for me and wish I still had it now.

Have you thought about CM Wheels “Estoril”? They’re a nice design and easy to clean.

Regarding wheels, I had dismissed the Estoril wheels as most of the VW ones have diamond turned face which I don’t particularly like, salt on UK roads just ruins them. Didn’t realise CM do them in a solid colour, might be an option.

Only had the car for 2 weeks, the last hot hatch type car I owned was a mk3 Focus RS which I loved, part of the reason I’ve gone back to a hatch.
The Clubsport is a different thing, 2wd, DSG box and more modern feel, up to now it certainly feels like it’s going to be a keeper (for a couple of years anyway)  :smiley:

Did you stick with a Golf when you changed yours?

Yes, polished alloy faces don’t last long on salty roads and I’d imagine replica wheels with polished faces would be even less durable than OEM. Then again maybe not but I’d not risk it! Fully painted all the way.

And yes, I stuck with a Golf. They just kind of work for me.
