The old style logos suit it way better Joe. A very simple but effective change.

Have seen a nice handful of 251 Clubsports being sold here, seems to be the pick of the bunch at the moment.

I fitted these “inner” cill plates today, also lifted from previous car. I got these on EBay 3 years ago and they’re really nice quality. I had a scan on eBay there and I cannot find them anymore or the seller.

Yeah I think they're selling relatively well here, considering the price of them! Definitely seem to be selling in more numbers than the MK8 did.

Aside from the obvious improvements that make an 8.5 more attractive than an 8 I do think the supply is much better (so far) which means you see more around and people are more encouraged to purchase/lease because they know they should get their car more quickly than before.

Hi Joe, I have been reading over a few detailing topics on ceramic coating, ppf etc when I came across one you had a few comments on. One being,

" I've had ceramic coatings done twice before. I won't be getting it done again. Maybe its just not for me, but I didn't think it was worth it. It wasn't crazy expensive then but it seems to be crazy money now, like everything else. I just didn't think it lived up to the hype. The car still suffered the same issues as any car with no protection. Bird crap marks, swirls, etc. In the end I bought a DA polisher and rectified a few annoying issues myself.

Can I ask what made you go down the ceramic coating route again with your new Clubsport and although I'm sure your happy with the way it looks, is it worth the cost?

I only ask as I've never had any of my new cars done this way but carried out all the prep myself then finished off with wax/sealant etc as I enjoy doing this and been happy with the results.
My current S3 however, had a 'Modesta' ceramic coating done by the first owner and although its almost 4 years old the car still looks like new. All the paint still beads well and there is a high gloss finish to the  alloys which nothing sticks to.
I'm therefore tempted to get the new Clubsport done but some of the prices do seem a bit crazy.

Apologies for going on a bit.

Yeah, I was a bit cynical about ceramic coatings, the wild claims about how amazing they are, not to mention the cost. And like I mentioned before, I had ceramics done before on previous cars and I was a bit underwhelmed.

So my primary interest this time round was to just get a front end PPF done, as I really would like to prevent stone chipping as much as possible. But when I got talking to the detailer (a local guy to me who is genuinely a master of his craft), he talked me into going for a ceramic again, as it would make maintenance so much easier, e.g. he said the PPF could be tricky enough to clean, remove dead files from, bird poo marks, etc, without a coating.

So I went for it, and no regrets. The car came up amazingly well. Paint is like glass, I've never had anything like it on previous cars. He did the wheels too and I've really noticed that they don't seem to get dirty. Nothing is sticking to them. It's also Modesta too by the way. Very impressed so far anyway.

So I'm not sure was I just the victim of a poorly applied coating on previous occasions, or if the game has moved on so much in the interim, or if a lot of it is down to the skills of the detailer himself... I'm not sure.

Thanks for your thoughts/opinions on ceramic coats Joe, appreciated.
Gives me something to consider as I'm planning on keeping this one for a while (although I always am and never do!!! 🙈)
