Mystery Buttons|

Can anyone tell me what these triangular-shaped spring-loaded buttons are for in the MK8 GTI boot? There is one either side, just under where the parcel shelf sits. I've never noticed them before, and can't see any reference in the owner's manual. Just curious.

They hold the parcel shelf in the upper position when you push it up.

Or rather, the floor of the boot rather than the parcel shelf I should say.

Got it! Bit of a (very) senior moment there - and it it does indeed show them on the very page in the owner's manual where I was looking, thinking it had something to do with the parcel shelf! Thanks anyway. Excuse: I've only had the car 8 months!

I know about them because every time I go shopping I use the bottom shelf to put my bags in, this way they don't slide all over the place when I'm driving home. Alternatively I put my shopping bags bags behind the front seats in the footwell.

There you go a lovely Friday night story about me and my shopping bags. Life on the edge.

Not at all Dav - that's a good wee tip about storing the shopping there. A bit more secure for the Chinese takeaway as well; could get messy at an enthusiastic corner but at least it would be contained!
I imagine being able to lift the boot floor and it being held up in place will make it a lot easier humping the spare wheel out if you have such a thing (which I'm hoping to get at some point because the tyre repair kit is next to useless given the size and number of potholes up here).
