the break bias doesnt have to be adjusted, i dont think mines ever been touched and the car acts and behaves fine on a 60mm dropped 8v. id say its adviceable to adjust it though if you can especially if youre goner go lower than 60mm.

You are supposed to adjust the bias valve so that the slack is just taken out of the spring with a 'normal' weight in the car, I'd say with about £10-20 worth of fuel in the tank. If you lower too much without adjusting it might cause the rear to lock up too much, but with only a little drop you'd probably be OK, say dropping a GTI with a 40mm kit. But I think if you proper slammed a 1.6 Driver without adjusting it you might have problems

Choose Eibach springs, you won't regret it. Also consider replacing the shocks, bump stops and top mounts if they havn't ever been replaced.

My 1.6 Driver is slammed 80mm, i have never adjusted the brake bias (never got round to it and tbh i forgot i hadnt done it until i read this post!
) I brake quite hard most evenings and have never locked the rear wheels up yet!
And now by saying that i have just jinxed my car....not going out in it tonight!

I dropped my Gti 40mm and never adjusted the biast valve. This resulted in the back brakes locking up on hard braking. I gotta get this sorted, its sometimes scary.
