Winter and fuel consumption

I had a Stage 1 remap at the end of October and then the weather has turned colder so heating is on more and car takes longer to warm up but I’ve had a big increase in fuel consumption, probably 10-15% consistently for the last 3 tanks.
I appreciate the remap has increased the power and torque, by quite a bit, but I’ve not been driving significantly quicker. I’ve filled up with Tesco Momentum 99 since it was done and finding by 300 miles it’s time to top up, before it was 340-360.
Has anyone else found the weather has impacted much or experienced the same after a remap.

If yours has a gpf it might be trying to regen. On mine the exhaust is noisier, the fan is often still running when switched off and yes, terrible fuel consumption.

Car is 2019 GTI Performance so I guess it would have a GPF (had only heard of DPF before).

Definitely has a gpf. If the other symtoms resonate with you (pun intended) then a good blast should sort it out. Needs to be a good run so perhaps some clear motorway.

SRGTD on this site had the best method of accelerating a regen - get the engine running at normal temperature and then drive at a decent speed and take foot of throttle pedal and coast for 10 seconds, repeat x10.
Sorted mine no problem.

Thanks for all the replies and links to the other posts, some great information (should have done a search maybe 🙄).

I have been doing a lot of short journeys and although some bits on motorway not for long at all.

Will try some of those things and see if it helps.
