tyres
« on: 21 November 2024, 15:01 »
My tyres will need replacing in the coming months but wanted to check what the best all round ones would be. Im running 18' Richmonds and the car came with Bridgstones. Didnt notice any gripping issues in the summer but in the current damp / frosty weather they are terrible....

Do i stick with Bridgestones or move to another brand?

I moved from Bridgestone Potenza’s to Michelin PS5’s couple of years ago - smoother, less noise and better in the cold.

I second that.  Very good tyres, much better than the  Potenza S005s that were fitted originally.  Good value too.

Goodyear for mine also. Original 18" wheels came with Goodyear F1 Super Sport which I changed to the Asymmetric 6 when I upgraded to 19". Great all round tyre.

If you are in hillier locations over the winter the GY VECTOR 4SEASONS GEN-3 are a fantastic tyre. They are pretty good in the summer as well almost as good as the GY AS5's that I previously has on.

I run these on my Alhambra. Absolutely brilliant tyres.

Got 40k out of the rears on the last set and just has a new set of 4 - unbelievably quiet and fantastic grip in the recent winter weather.

I wouldn’t run all season tyres on my Gti though. Can’t imagine they be as good as my PS5s for grip in warmer weather

You can hate me all you like.... but I'm running rainsports....

In the wet they are better than most (the name is a give away) and for dry.... well I guess I don't push it that hard to notice any difference.

The time I'm relying on the tyres the most is in the (constant) sh1tty wet.

Oh and they are a lot cheaper than the obvious options!
