I ordered 27th August and was initially told it could be February/March.  This has now changed to being built end of November.  It seems much longer than most of you others, don't know why

Peter

The car’s spec can have an impact on lead time (typically, the higher a car’s spec, the greater the chance of a longer lead time). Additionally, the number of build slots a dealer has been allocated by VW can also impact lead times. My understanding is that if a dealer has used up all their build slots and they continue to accept customer orders, then the dealer can’t submit those orders to the factory until they get their next allocation of build slots from VW.

With the initial 8.5 launch there seemed to be a full head of steam of GTI’s for initial dealer stock. These build slots will now be shared with Clubsports and R’s so I’d expect the wait times to increase.

There’s clearly a lot of the GTi stock out there and competition on pricing had an email from a company called Motorfinity offering brand new stock GTi special offer price at £32610….

Unfortunately not everyone can buy a car through Motorfinity - I seem to remember you need to be working in an eligible profession - primarily the NHS, the Emergency Services, the Armed Forces, or in Social Care (there may be a few other eligible professions).

There are some very good discounts to be had if you meet the eligibility criteria though.

Yes, I ordered with a sunroof and Queenstown alloys so that may have had an effect although I did ask them if it would lengthen the delivery and they said no.

I ordered 19th August and was also given February/March as a delivery timeframe.  Standard GTi in moonstone. It’s a lease deal so don’t know if it makes any difference
