Thinking of ordering a base GTi

Can someone advise on current delivery times ?

Also when do VW tend to increase their prices ?

I believe VW increase their prices in September, so that has already just happened, as for delivery times, they of course vary depending on spec, which dealership you choose and what order allocations they have, and time of year etc etc. all I can tell you about is my own current experience, I custom ordered a near fully optioned 265 GTI on the 10th August, and as of last Saturday (12th oct) it was showing as being in the UK, so fingers crossed, I’ll receive a phone call this week or early next week to arrange collection. 🤞
Current -
8.5 GTI, Dolphin, Pan roof, Area view, DCC, Queenstown wheels, HUD, HK, Spare wheel.

Gone -
2022 Mk8 GTI DSG, Kings Red.
2020 BMW M135i xDrive, Storm Bay Metallic.
2016 Mk7 GTI DSG, Carbon Grey.
2010 Mk6 GTI Manual, Carbon Grey.
2009 Mk6 GTI DSG, Black Pearl.
2008 Mk5 GT sport DSG, Glacier White.
2003 Mk4 R32, Reflex Silver.
2002 Mk4 GTI, Indigo blue pearl.
1991 AX GT.
1984 Mk1 XR2.
Plus many more.

If by ‘base GTI’ you mean you’re considering a car with no options, it would be worth checking out VW’s website for details of dealers that have new GTI’s in stock. I think I remember reading on the forum that early dealership stock GTI’s have been cars with few or no options, so it would be worth having a look at what’s available (use the link below). There may also be new in-stock GTI’s advertised on sites such as Auto Trader.

Buying an in-stock car also has the benefit of avoiding the wait for a factory order to be built, shipped and delivered to the dealer.

2020 Polo GTI Plus; Pure White, DSG (because they all are)
Gone but not forgotten;
2016 Polo GTI; Blue Silk
2011 mk6 Golf GTD; Carbon Grey
2007 mk5 Golf GT (2.0 170bhp TDI version); Deep Black Pearl
2002  mk4 Golf GTI (the 150 bhp diesel version); Deep Black Pearl

Thanks but that means paying rip off main dealer prices, and dealing with their unenthusiastic sales staff - I will look to procure through a broker instead.

My local dealer managed to as good as match Drive the Deal when I ordered, I also played off another local dealership against them, I ended up with near 7k off of the RRP, with the added benefit that I can collect the car myself, and not have it driven 150+ miles to me, which in my opinion is like having a used car!

I’ve also had my local dealer pretty much match the Drive the Deal price, so no rip off main dealer prices, no long journey to collect the car or someone else driving my new car from the broker designated dealership many miles away. In my experience, dealers also seem more prepared to do a deal on a vehicle that’s already in stock.

I ordered mine on the 8th September and was told a couple of weeks later it has a build date for the last week of October.  Hopefully will get it this year!  Haven't chased yet, but will probably check again the first week of November.

As originally advised, i would check the VW stock as quite a few franchises around the country still have the base GTI 8.5 up for sale and ready to collect within a few days

I ordered 27th August and was initially told it could be February/March.  This has now changed to being built end of November.  It seems much longer than most of you others, don't know why
