GTI 8.5 in Moonstone
« on: 13 September 2024, 13:17 »
HI all.  What are your opinions on a GTI in Moonstone Grey?  Although I have ordered a new 8.5, I have the option to get one a lot sooner, of a similar spec, albeit in Moonstone.  I am on the fence about the colour, so thought I would see what others think.  Thanks
Current: Golf GTI 8.5. Pure white/black, pan roof, Queenstown, DCC, HK, Area view, spare wheel
Gone: 2018 Golf GTI 7.5 performance pack with standard spec
Gone: 2016 Golf GTE 7
Gone: 2013 Audi A3 S-Line
Gone: 2010 Golf GT TDI

Most people love Moonstone. My sister has a Moonstone R-line and loves the colour. I think I am in the small minority who doesn't like the colour, I find it really dull TBH. I much prefer white over it or darker shades of grey.

It's just a matter of opinion, but would definitely recommend you going to the dealership to have a look at a Moonstone Golf in the flesh before deciding.

It's kind of really boooring colour. Can't say it looks bad but boring. If you want cool looking grey - opt for Dolphin Grey Metallic.
Otherwise, Kings Red suits 8.5 GTI perferctly, and which is actually a colour

It makes absolutely no difference what other people think.

Go and have a look at one in the flesh and decide based on that, you're spending a chunk of money so make sure you're happy with your choice.

The only possible scenario that other peoples opinion on colour matter is for resale so as long as you don't pick that vomit yellow colour you won't have a problem.

I'd say it's been one of the more popular colours in the VW range in the last few years. It's a very striking looking colour when it's clean in bright sunshine. It's another one of those "primer grey" colours thats "in vogue", particularly in performance cars, similar to Nardo grey on Audi's and BMW have one similar too.

Of the greys available, I'd pick it. Personally I think Dolphin grey is the one that looks very "battleship grey" dreary.
MK8.5 GTI Clubsport. Moonstone grey. Queenstown 19’s. DCC. Harmon Kardon sound. Pano roof.

Thanks for the replies.  I think I will go and see one, as I am unsure of it on screen.  The car that is available is 2.5 hours away, so won't go and see that specific one, but hopefully there is one nearby.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder......or potential buyer in this case.

I don't have any knowledge of those colours but it's entirely your choice.  If you like it go for it.

I had a mk 8 GTI in Moonstone. They can look very smart. You pays your money, you makes your choice.

Moonstone gets the thumbs up from me, probably my favourite GTI colour.
