This makes it even more odd that my car arrived just 10 weeks after ordering on the 10th August!? They told me it would be a minimum of 20weeks, so I was expecting it in late December or early January, or maybe later still, the dealership was quite frankly amazed how quickly it got built and shipped, and were still mentioning that when I collected it, the sales guy did also mention that VW appear to be pushing some 8.5 orders back to the second quarter next year! But they’ve also had several GTI’s delivered in double quick time, so who knows, it appears to be a bit of a roulette based on chosen dealer and their allocations, spec chosen, and date of order. 🤷♂️ I can honestly say though, that the 8.5 GTI is (in my opinion) head and shoulders above the 8 in most ways, and is worth the wait. Once mine moved beyond Status 10 it progressed really quickly, so fingers crossed @Colh. 🤞
