Yeah the UK Black pack is a rip off. I can’t believe someone hasn’t got their dealer to challenge the price with VWUK using Irish and Euro configurators as evidence.

The black pack is priced completely wrong on the UK configurator, like Exonian, I can’t believe it hasn’t been corrected! If you spec it, you’re effectively paying them twice for the IQ/matrix lights. I challenged VW Ireland about it as they also had it incorrectly priced and they immediately corrected it. In the end I didn’t spec it as I wanted to keep the red stripe. And a set of black mirror caps can be gotten for small money and are easy to swap.

Yes, the lighting does make C,I,B look different, not in a bad way though in my opinion. However I did see the car in the showroom, that would have perhaps enhanced how it looked due to vw dealerships currently appearing to use soft, coloured lighting above the cars of late, I must say, it did neglect to say that the car I saw did have the black pack, that is important, as for me, the colour really doesn’t go well with the red stripe, that is partly why I decided against it and went for dolphin, as I was definitely not having the black pack due to its inflated price.

The one I saw in person had the black pack and I just couldn't order it, even for about 200 quid. A GTI without the red stripe looks completely wrong to me. Like it's trying to be something that it's not.

The blue plus the red stripe might be polarising to some but I think it works. It might be a little bit 'loud' but I like it

Yes I agree, a GTI should have the red stripe, that’s why I wouldn’t have chosen CIB, the red looks great against colours such as Dolphin, white etc, also CIB really doesn’t suit the 265 GTI (which I settled upon) at all, I would only have considered it on a CS, but only with the black pack, but as we’ve both said, a GTI needs the red stripe, but as with most of things like this, it’s down to personal taste, and my opinion doesn’t mean jack in regards to you buying and speccing a car, and at the end of the day, all 8.5 GTIs look great in my opinion, enjoy it, it wont disappoint. 👌

Anyone ordered a new build car since the start of December? I’ve still no updates from VW apart from the fact the order has been accepted at the factory. Getting impatient now although I did expect it to be 4 months plus.

Have you recently asked the dealership to check the system for its current status code? I ordered in August last year, and it was exactly 10 weeks from order day to delivery day, I haven’t heard of any customers complaining of long delays, so fingers crossed I’d hope your order would have a similar time frame!?

I ordered a Clubsport on about 11 January via DtD and after a colour change its currently status 10 with,
Original build week 202510 (Start of March)
Current build week 202510

This was off a screenshot sent to me by the dealer. Obviously not confirmed yet but colour change didnt move it backwards

Just had an update for my 8.5 GTI. It's currently code 36 Port of Exit not released. Ordered back end of October.

It's going to be a March Delivery with March registration. It's taken a fair while but worth the wait all being well

Is yours via a lease ?

Mines is had update before Xmas that was going into build 6th of Jan but someone pointed out there was strikes on going so don't know if that's caused any issues.

Did ask for an update this week not had anything back so far.

Hopefully get it for March ordered 28th August
