It’s not like the mk8 Golf is the only car to use an overly complex screen to control just about everything. I’ve found the little panel in the newer Tiguans and T-Rocs just as bad and they’re fully illuminated!
I do however fully agree with literally everyone on the internet that it’s beyond belief that the panel doesn’t have illumination for the heater temps and volume when the actual screen immediately above it is fully backlit

But in operation it’s nowhere near the problem YouTubers make out.
