My Next Door Neighbour
« on: 21 October 2005, 13:31 »
Some of you might remember I moved house a little while ago. Well the geezer next door owns a Pug 205 GTI.
Now, it's reasonably tidy...quite possibly faster than my Golf, but what a heap of junk!
The poor guy is always out there trying to fix it ! The plastic trim of the hatchback has fallen off, and every morning when he leaves to go to work his driver's door makes a nasty loud CLUNK...CLICK ...CLUNK BANG.....DOING..noise as he gets in it.
He came home the other night with the side repeater hanging off by it's wires !

Shall I tell him to consider buying a Golf GTI ?   It's a daily reminder to me why Dubs Rock !!

I tried a poo-go about 6 years ago (1990 205 1.9gti) but it didn't last long, i got it cheap of a work colleague (£500) and had pretty much already decided its fate by the time i'd got home when i turned off the A20 a went to go round a roundabout the car just lost it completely!!! those things are dangerous if you ask me.

I sold it for £1000 without the tunes, nice

My mate has a black 1.9 gti, it is quite tidy to be fair to him buti hate them, he took me for a spin in it and it didnt feel anything as quick as my valver, and it felt so cheap and plasticy! its a typical french cheap imitation of a golf!

now they may be faster than 8valves or possibly 16valves (mark 2) but they are badly made! to change the starter motor you have to take off the inlet manifold!

and yea they are terrible for lift-off-oversteer!! a roundabout accident waiting to happen!

Have you noticed how many seem to break the door check strap thereby buckling the door when it opens too far

My brothers 106 had that problem and after running it for a year its amazing what you notice when you look around..........quite a few have got buckled door for that very reason

Bloody load of crap the 205!!

No where near as good as a 405 Mi16!!!!  Nowt tinny about em! It is a 1500kg car!

Agree about the sarter motor tho! Well on the Mi16 its the same! Before I bought my Golf I had a 405GTX which was basiclly the same but an 8v engine. I could change the starter motor on that o.k.
