The mk2, particularly the 16v was an exception car for its time.

yup it was that. it was the King of Hot Hatches throughout its life.

race the guy and see what happens.

I had a race with one in my celica GT4 a couple ofyears ago - it wasn't as quick - but it could fair shift! as much as I hate to say it, unless your golf is a little quicker than the norm, I wouldn't go racing him on an open road. Try and find something a bit twisty - see if you can out handle it!

it was 153bhp on the rolling road before i drilled the airbox ;D(cheers guys for that one!) but i still can't beleive my old golf would out handle it,its done 105'000 and is still on the origional shocks ect. but theres only one thing to do-race the f**k*r!!!!

anyway i can still fall back on the fact that mine cost ?650 and he's cost 6Kplus ;)

If it only cost 6k, it must be a grey import then - (square number plate on  the back gives it away) in which case it will probably be running a modified engine or higher than a standard legit import on the BHP front, as the Jap import cars tend to be of a higher spec and power than their legitimate counterparts - be aware of this before you go laying down the gauntlet!!!

I keep finding conflicting advice for these cars, some places say there 4cylinder some say v6 so im guessing there were 2 engines available one running 7.5 and the other about 8 so check which model his is, if its 4 cylinder id fancy your chances.  :)

If its an import it might have a chronic 5th gear.

Tin - whats a chronic fifth gear?

some jap performance cars are limited to 112mph. and they do it by having a really nasty 5th.

ALL Jap domestic cars are limited to 112 mph.

This limiter can be removed though . . . . .
