My oil temp on the MFA does not work. Do I need a new temp sender but where is this located?

Im thinking it is on the right, just under the rocker cover?

Also is it normal that my oil light flashes when the ignition is on. It cuts out when the car is started?

I think the temp sender is mounted on the oil filter housing. Its normal for oil light to come on as long as it goes out when the engine starts.

All you need is an oil temperature sender like u said it costs about ?2 pounds from German & sweedish. I had the same problem on myne.

Go to halfrods open the Haynes manual for ur car n have a look at wher it goes it takes 2 minutes to do

About ur oil light flashing its normal as long as when u start the car it goes off.

If ever a red light goes on while u are driving stop the car switch it off and get it looked at red light mean danger.

Make sure that your oil level is correct, I had a Mk1 gti as a loan car whist my Mini's engine was rebuit under warentee, the oil temp stoped working and I carried on regardless. End result was the rod poking out the side of the block  >:(, cost me ?600 to get my mini back  :'( (the oil warning light was on but the garage told me it was a wiring fault and to ignor it "thumping the dash usualy stops it"!)

Have you checked that the conecting wire hasn't just come off of the sender?  Mine did.  The wire was green if that's any help.
