So I set out to buy the VW All In package.
Visited my local dealer to be told :

We are not allowed to sell you this
It’s not available for performance Golfs
It costs £33.45 per month
You can’t cancel your DD at any point even if you sell the cars
You need an inspection to approve your application

So, I went on line and bought my plan today for £29.99 pm

WTF?

So if the dealer maintains the All-In package isn’t available for performance Golfs, maybe they’d like to explain why performance Golfs aren’t listed under the ‘ineligible vehicles’ text below which is from VW’s website;

Is my vehicle eligible?
All-in has been designed for vehicles that:
- Are between 3 and 6 years old at point of activation
- Are a Volkswagen with an engine size of 2.0L or less
- Have done under 100,000 miles at point of activation
- Don’t have a warranty or service plan already in place

The following vehicles are not eligible for cover:
- Battery electric vehicles (BEV)
- Vehicles powered by fuel cell or liquid petroleum gas (LPG)
- Public hire/private hire vehicles
- Vehicles that have a service plan already in place

There is no exclusion of performance Golfs or performance VW’s under any of the terms and conditions of the component parts of the All-In product (warranty, service and MOT or roadside assistance).

One small point though - If you’ve bought the plan online and your dealer said it’s wasn’t available for your car, does that mean you haven’t had the required free eligibility check / inspection carried out? If so, could that cause a potential issue in the event of you making a legitimate genuine claim - i.e. VW saying the claim’s not covered as your car didn’t pass the eligibility check as it wasn’t carried out?

It's the usual 'dealer hasn't got a clue' problem.
I had to take mine in a week after its service as concerned about oil leak(which turned out they spilt oil when filling up), they sent email and video telling me my brake fluid needed changing! Really I said,  well I want money back from last week as you supposed to have changed it.

It does sadden me the way things are going with the car brand that I've supported for the vast majority of my driving life... the inconsistencies between dealerships which I guess is down to them being franchises but they should all be reading from the same 'rule book'?

I would have thought that the online purchase should have not have been able to complete if anything requires a face-to-face with a dealer which should stop any misunderstandings over claims later.

In my case I still have the creaking left front suspension when on full lock during parking.... cars been in three times now and all they said they can do is grease the bushes as that's all VW have said is the fix.... I'm not happy, especially when I hear others on here and other VW forums have had parts replaced without really having to push it.... just shows how very different they can be and not easy for me to visit another VW dealer as they are so far away.

Of course for me this is still being looked at under warranty..... I do wonder if it would be the same if I was paying.

All good responses. In answer to the “check”, I use this dealer for all my servicing and they did a Major VW Service in mid Jan which also gave a clean bill of health.
I’m guessing the VW system, which is driven by the reg number, knows this and this didn’t ask me to take the car in.

The point of my story is, as I have said before in other topics, the dealer can fill their bays with plenty full price customers and it’s not in their interest to promote All In or indeed the simple Service Plan.

The “service adviser” looked v uncomfortable when trotting out all the reasons why she didn’t want to talk about All In. So my message to others is don’t be misled by dealers.

And finally, yes, the All In plan at £29.99 pm is brilliant value.

Indeed, I have a standard two year service plan bought as a BF deal...I'm paying £15.50 a month for one minor and major service that's roughly £170 each! Oil about £80 then the filter plus labor.... plus my next service also has spark plugs included and pollen filter.

VW can't be making money on these?

Wouldn't look into it too much, you get great dealers, good dealers & bad dealers for all manufacturers. Fixed steady income although only £29.99 if you have a few really helps cash flow so it would've been in their interest to get more, they're just choosing to be difficult.

@Rudedog, servicing is more a keep the lights on exercise for cash flow to sustain peaks and drops in car sales, the money's made in larger service items like brake discs or diagnostics.

And keeping the customer coming through the dealership’s door at least once a year maintains contact with that customer. That contact may increase the likelihood of the customer’s next car being a new VW when the time comes for them to replace their existing car.

I took out the all in for £29.99 on my TCR in the dealership just over a week ago with no bother.

Inspection wasn’t needed as they were familiar with the car and mileage hadn’t really changed since it was in last.

As said already “some dealers…”
