Alloy damaged by Pothole
« on: 12 February 2023, 07:33 »
Hi All,

Had a bit of bad luck on the A43 yesterday where I have damaged my alloy

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1XCsI_yrWKJEJV2Mr5dZC8wbPszLuOazQ/view?usp=drivesdk

Annoyingly I was just coming to brake for the roundabout up to the M1 North bound and saw a rough patch of road but did not even see a pothole then had a big thump.

Anyone know if these can be re straightened?
If not anyone know the cost of a new Pretoria alloy? I know they are not cheap so prepared for a big bill

Easily repaired at a decent repair place, seen much worse, even with cracks. Maybe ask local groups on facebook for good wheel repair/refurbish shops

Ouch. That must’ve hurt.

As Fingalonga says, it should be a straightforward repair which will be financially more palatable than the cost of a new Pretoria as they’re staggeringly expensive from VW.

If it helps I saw on Facebook this morning someone do worse damage to a Brescia alloy up at Fortwilliam, roads are in a shocking state at the minute, which are also £900 an alloy from VW.

In a twist of fate, literally an hour after commenting here I discovered I too have a dented front wheel.

The joys of potholes.

For cheap replica wheels they’ve not done badly,
I know where I can get the wheel sorted easily enough, but as the front tyres are down to 3mm anyway I’ll ponder a total change of wheels and tyres.

A little set of bronze 19 BBS CI-R's would look tasty on your clubsport

Need to check for tyre damage so at 3mm may be a change is the way to go?

They’d look lovely I’m sure!
Ten years ago I’d have been all over an idea like that, but right now I’m getting “redundancy ready” so all non essential purchases are on hold.
I’ll keep my eye on the classifieds though
