Tcr exhaust, possibly for sale
« on: 01 February 2023, 23:50 »
Hi everyone,
Back in a mk7 gti and this time a tcr!
I’ve just taken off the original back box and res and replaced it for the Akrapovic
How much should I expect to get for the original setup?

forgive my ignorance... how does this differ from a standard GTi exhaust?

Probably not much. Anyone wanting an upgrade exhaust for a TCR is going to want the Akrapovic.

I disagree that nobody would want it - for anybody with a standard or PP gti this is a great OEM upgrade. The TCR backbox alone is over £500 from VW to give you an idea. If you can polish up those tips with some autosol and wire brush I'm sure a few people on here have been considering getting a TCR backbox. Probably worth putting up in the for sale section.

It's essentially a clubsport S exhaust. Less restrictive and therefore louder than the stock gti or PP exhaust.

I've got just short of 30k miles on my TCR and the exhaust note is really good, not too loud but a good deep bass. Definitely a worthwhile upgrade for a GTIP imo.

Good upgrade for the GTI PP owners that want to stay standard-ish. But I believe the backbox is £400 ish from VW new, and there's no difference in the centre resonated section. So £200 is probably where your price point will be.

I didn't say that nobody would want it, I said it's less desirable so price expectations shouldn't be high. Good shout to put it in the for sale section. If I was buying the part, I'd want to know the level of use it had seen and to have some detailed photos of any potential corrosion points to show condition.
