Upgrade Turbo elbow and inlet??
« on: 13 January 2023, 09:52 »
Hello people. Sorry if this has been posted 1000’s of times. I can’t seem to find a definitive answer

Is it really worth while upgrading the turbo inlet pipe and elbow? Do you notice any difference to power etc?

I’ve read a lot of mixed reviews.

Is there a better make than others etc??

Your advice would be very much appreciated

Very little effect but I found the response a little better. Looks smart under the bonnet too. Unless of course you have a mapped car, then it might be more necessary. I had a racingline elbow and hose which had a high quality of finish but they are expensive so they should.

I have a panel filter and the Revo intake pipe on my CS and I can tell the difference (standard tune) - it just feels more responsive but not sure there is any additional power, the turbo just responds more quickly.

I bought the Racingline elbow but sent it back as there is no smooth transition where the elbow meets the turbo and the seals were terrible - perhaps I had a dud. I would recommend the integrated pipe with machined end which fixes to the Turbo. A few companies make them e.g. Forge, Revo & Turbo Technics.

No, all standard. The intake pipe and elbow was on my previous car though.

Exactly what I found. Shame about the racingline. I did have my eye on a Forge pipe although I could do without spending a couple of hundred on not a lot!

Agree they cost a lot but I sold the Forge pipe for £40 less than I paid for it after 18 months so it is a cheap mod if you look at the cost of ownership and the fact it’s an easy DIY install. I would recommend anyone with the IS38 turbo engine to get one.

Progressive Parts sell an intake pack, which includes the intake pipe with turbo inlet, the filter and the GTE blanking plate for £284 so you’re effectively getting the intake pipe-inlet for around £190.
