« on: 08 December 2022, 14:05 »
Ive tried lots of different cleaning bands. Also using a small amount of white vinegar in water. tried using micro fibre cloths. Especially this weather, inside of the windscreen always seem to be smeary . Its very annoying, any tips welcome .

I use one of these extendable pads along with a bottle of isopropyl to clean grease/smears/residues

I've been using Meguiar's Perfect Clarity Glass Cleaner. Very good, would recommend.

AutoGlym Fast Glass with paper towels. Microfibre doesn't work that well on glass.

This’ll be a typically unfashionable opinion but…

I don’t use chemicals very often at all.

36 years of cleaning cars, some of that time obsessively, some of that time by trade in my younger life, has taught me much.

I use water.

Have you seen those cleaning cloth sets you can get for shower screens? I mean the proper ones not the cheapo supermarket ones (which might actually work just as well) that consist of a slightly rough microfibre to cut through water marks and absorb moisture and a smoother glass polishing cloth?
They are great for cleaning windscreens. Not flawless, so you need to use them quite often, but don’t leave smears unlike any other glass polish I’ve ever used.

A white vinegar product with paper towels for initial grime removal periodically and then semi-regular use of shower glass cloths keeps the winter smears at bay.
I’ll very slightly dampen the screen usually with the drying towel I’ve just used for the car wash, then just follow the instructions for the cloths.

I use this product, absolutely brilliant stuff, the best glass cleaner I’ve used by a long way, out does all the expensive brands with ease in my opinion, and cheap too! https://www.diy.com/departments/method-mint-mirror-glass-cleaning-spray-828ml/258796_BQ.prd
