To be fair, you could level that criticism at me too, as i never really thrashed the GTI. I should say that the new Tiguan has got massive boots to fill though.

Me neither, usually sedately driven but I do give it some beans occasionally😂

Whenever I see a golf gti, I always take a look at the driver. The last 4 or 5 mk7s I’ve seen were driven by middle aged men.

Saw a 7.5 this morning. Guy driving must’ve been 70+.

Getting to 60 is not a reason to sell, it’s a reason to buy!

But I can understand a change is nice now and then.

Lovely car for some lucky buyer
Might have been me in the 7.5 . I don't thrash it but nice to have the performance every once in a while on A and B roads to make good progress.
Mk6 GTI Carbon Grey, 2010 Bluetooth and voice fitted, a few VCDS mods still a comfortable family car. Red Scirocco 2011 twin charger stage 1 - enjoyable drive now gone.  White 2016 Polo GTI (roller skate on steroids) replaced with an Indium Grey 2019 7.5 GTI PP.

True, but you're enthusiast enough to be on a forum for your car so you get a pass

I bought my mk 7 in July just after my 75th birthday. Wish I'd done it sooner

Haha, nice to hear from all the forum oldies!

At least a golf gti is a golf- a car perfectly suited for use as an everyday hack.

I bet most Porsches and Lamborghinis haven’t been used to anywhere near their potential

That new Tig does look nice. Enjoy!

On the age comments, I bought my first GTI at age 62. Mrs P and I are both now 71 and our 4th GTI is going nowhere other than under my heavy right foot when the opportunity presents.
