Service at weekend what type of oil??
« on: 18 October 2005, 20:46 »
Recently purchased a 1990 1.6 Golf Driver with 145,000 on the clock and plan doing a quick service myself at the weekend i checked the plugs and found three different types managed to get info on correct type Bosch W8DTC from here, oil filter is genuine part so has part numbers on it.

So i need to know type of oil to use?.

Cheers H.

I've been using Castrol 10/40 in mine but I gotta change it on the weekend so I think I'm gonna use some Synta Silver...cheaper!!
08.03.10 - 3, maybe 4 weeks, and I want my golf back on the road!

Buy a new oil filter regardless of whats on there atm, its a service part ;)

Synta Silver is the oil VW recommend, and its so cheap you would be mad not to use it really!  Don't forget a new sump drain plug copper seal, otherwise it'll leak :)

Again - Hmmmmmm

Do as Jonny says... Genuine filter and Synta Silver from the VW dealer. For the price you would be daft not to. You can get both for less than 5 litres of smegmatec.
