"4D" number plates. Anyone got them?
« on: 31 January 2022, 12:23 »
Do you like them, would you recommend?

Recently bought a personalised plate for my GTI, and I'm undecided on whether to go 4D or not. I quite like them, but I understand a lot of people don't and I totally get why as well. Very torn!

I don’t have them because I don’t like them. With raised letters and numbers, I suspect they’re more difficult to clean too than normal flat perspex plates are. Just my opinion though.

I’ll stick with the standard dealer-fit plates.

Yep, sadly I have a set. I like them, they're easily cleaned and I have received numerous favourable comments, sometimes from people you thought would never have noticed.

I think they look very tacky.

If you have a personal plate, that should be enough. Less is more and all that. Plain and simple plates for me. Platesforcars will make you a set with no docs (they are based in Ireland) with tiny weeny legal markings.

Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.

I don't personally like them but I use an alternative small font, the standard font and your english reg's look horrible.

Well, if you like them then you may as well get them.

Personally I think they are on the tacky side but I’m old and boring.
They always remind me of a school craft project “ok kids, grab some Perspex, a hacksaw and some wet and dry paper, it’s time to make something crap to take home to your parents”
