They don't enable it because its for a different model. Same as an R line doesn't get the gti rev counter view.

Oooh, that looks nice!  I assumed that this was only available in blue, as I had only ever seen pictures of it in Rs, so didn't really fancy it.  Seeing it in red with the GTI logo included makes me want it, though.

Interested in maybe going down this route. Would it cause any issues at the dealer, come service time, or any warranty claim problems? Would any changes be overwritten with a dealer update?

I would be amazed if a dealer noticed or cared. If they did over write it (unlikely unless you needed a new ECU or something), its easy to re-enable it.

Get the dongle from Amazon (cheaper if you have prime!) and the software from your appstore on the phone.

I think you need the "pro" licence to do any actual coding, such as enabling the R virtual display in the dash.

Can be any colour you want, you just select the background colour as normal
