Mk8 Golf hot hatch - literally!
« on: 07 July 2021, 10:22 »
Saw this over on vwroc.com forum; takes the term ‘hot hatch’ to a new level!. Hopefully these were isolated incidents.

Engines are the same as the mk7 though aren’t they? Mind you, they’ve skimped on the styling, the software, the interior… why not the mechanicals.

Gen 4 EA888 has a different turbo, injectors, and much higher fuel pressure.

350 bar vs 200 bar in gen 3.

Maybe a fuel leak?

What I find alarming is everybody just stood around videoing it and talking instead of trying to help the poor persons pride and joy

Have to say I got into my car the other day after parking it - it was there for about 2-3 hours. When I got back in it the AID told me it was 40 degrees. Obviously that’s the outside temp but I doubt it was 40 degrees or we’d have been in the news!

When my 7.5 has been sitting in the sun all day at work I can hear the small fan some where behind the dash going very fast for a very long time, I guess to cool the AID and infotainment, I do wonder if I'm supposed to be able to hear the hum from it as it makes more noise than the main AC fan.

To me it would make sense to divert some of the AC cold air to behind the dash to aid cooling as I can imagine that's it's roasting being in the full sun (bit like the glove-box cooler).

It's the temperature of the road under the car... Which after you've been stopped is absorbing the heat from the engine...
