Hi

This is audible under these circamstances all the time, consistently, and the best way to describe the buzzing is:

2nd or 3rd gear, drive at 2500 rpm, take your foot off the accelarator, as it slows down there is a loud BBBBZZZZzzzzz as the revs drop, going by 2000 rpm.  It comes from under the dash, driver's side.  I've pushed the A pillar, dash, air vent, nothing changes the ***** ******* buzz.

I've read a large number of cases of rev related buzzing, some people say it's the A pillar speaker, fuel pipes, sundaktor, etc.

I have disconnected the soundaktor and made sure it's not loose / vibrating itself.

my 2018 7.5 GTi has done 12,000 miles so I know I won't get anything done under warranty.

Please add thoughts and advice on what it could be, where to look and how to get it sorted.  It's making me drive in high gears at 2000rmp all the time ... sad I know. Thanks in anticipation.

Bear in mind that the source of unwanted cabin noises and vibrations don’t always originate from where you think they’re coming from which can make them difficult to track down - especially if you’re trying to do this yourself while driving at the same time. IMO it’s sometimes easier to locate these unwanted noises if you have someone travel with you and you get them to listen for the noise source and see if they stop when pressure’s applied to trim panels. Alternatively, get someone else to drive while you do the listening and apply pressure to trim panels.

Some owners have found that contact between the hard plastic sliding vanity mirror cover in the sun visor and the vanity light in the headlining can cause a vibration when the sun visor’s not being used, and this has been mistaken for a dashboard or A pillar trim vibration. Easy to check out by putting something like a microfibre cloth between the visor and lamp so they can’t make contact.

Also try the glovebox lid (I had one that vibrated in a mk4 Golf) and the height-adjustable seatbelt mounting point on the upper B pillar which vibrated in my last car. I know the B pillar is a long way away from the lower driver’s side dashboard but as said above, noise sources are often in a completely different location to where you think they are. Some self adhesive felt pads on the inside edge of the glovebox lid, and moving the seatbelt mounting point very slightly stopped both of these unwanted noises.

I have/had this and I think I finally tracked it down after 3 years!

I think it's the end panel of the dashboard vibrating. Open your door and tap the end panel - mine rattled. I tested my theory by trapping a cloth between the door and the dashboard and the noise went away! Funnily enough, I was going to do a permanent fix but just trapping the cloth for a couple of journeys seems to have fixed it
