Brake Upgarde 280+
« on: 17 October 2005, 12:42 »
Ive been reading up on the best brake upgarde for my mk2.
Its got 256mm on all readys its a 91j 16V

I want 280+
I know i can do this with just the discs & carriers from a g60 & use the 256 calipers

But ive also been told I can use the VR6 calipers and carriers with g60 discs.
Has anyone done this?

Has anyone got any advice on this issue!
I dont want to pay the 450+ for a four pot conversion!

The VR6 callipers and carriers fit straight on with the G60 discs..Ive got some sat in my garage waiting to put on mine when I can be bothered..I did a trial fit to make sure and the only thing to be careful with is the clearance of the VR calliper on the inside of your wheels..it's a case of some catch and some don't!!

Oh, by the way...the callipers for a 16v won't work with the G60 discs because the 280 discs are wider than the 256..I tried that aswell

The later VR6 brakes were 288 but the early ones were 280 ..don't know what year they changed  :undecided:
If you put the later ones on I've been told you have to piss about with the pipes..don't quote me on that tho!
