GT TDI

Right all you Mk4 dudes,

I am usually on the MK III forum, however due to the milage that I do I am going to change back to diesel and sadly punt my mint condition MK III Colour Concept. I test drove a 130bhp 2000 "X" plate today and was quite impressed at the response and the car in general. The engine felt powerful and responsive and the comfort was very good. The car only had 67k on it.

I am not a huge fan of the look of the MK4 but could quite easily live with it. Also tempted by the A3 diesel.

Guys give me your advice, opinions and sell the Mk4 to me. Opinions wanted and appreciated.

Is your car chipped then knightrider??? Also what roughly do you get to the gallon when doing 80 on the motorway?

Can you also tell me if any major work is needed done about 70k as the car has done roughly that and the service indicator is on although it does have a full service history from VW to date.

Anything else that you can think of will be appreciated.

mk tdi, pd130, is an ace car. I learnt to drive in it with my dad, and when i went back to the 1.2 corsa i took my test in i nearly cried. the tdi is a beasty car and will smoke most cars off the lights, not that ive tried, and will give you a steady 40mpg, if you drive like a twit like me. other than that my dad got it cuz he does a lot of miles and also likes his speed, although he wont admit it. the gt tdi would be my ideal car, but its a little bit more expensive than the 130 brake tdi. ecu remaps are fairly cheap for good power increase and increases in mpg's. about £500 for an AMD remap on an RR giving +30 brake and +30 lbs. or go for £2250 stage 3, + 55 brake and + 75 lbs, and an exhaust with turbo remap. what'll kill you though is the f**king torque, they pull like a f**king elephant on crack, hard to change gears quickly enough, for me anyway. buy one, 150 brake, remap it then go rip it up. then add an extra turbo, intercooler, etc etc. go for it!!!

OK ch3ears for that, I was intending to get it chipped, but didn't know that it does not effect the fuel consumption so thats really good to know.

I did a bit of research and discovered that the X plate I drove yesterday was in actual fact only 115bhp and not the 130 bhp which I drove today and the difference was incredible. Sadly though the body work was quite badly scratched so I wont be touching this one but will continue to look for a decent Y or 51 plate.

My mind has been made up and I am going to purchase one of these beasts! Once you own a Volkswagen you just cant let go.

alrite m8

I recently bought a GT TDI but the 110BHP. Power is not bad, but coming down from a 200sx 180BHP is!

Anyway, I would like to get more power out of it, but Im only a student and have no money (loan soon 2 come hopefully).. are thr any cheap mods I could do 2 increase BHP without increasing fuel and wallet consumption ?

Thanx

1 last thing, if I put an exhaust on my car, will it give me a nice deep noise or make no difference at all as it is a diesel.

I have owned ( or my wife at least, I just pay for it) a mk4 gt tdi 130 standard and we both think that it is an ace car. If you get one you will not regret it. We can get about 500+ miles to a full tank of diesel. No just went over 50K and it still drives like new.

i own one to,impressed with it as well,so far i have cone filterd it and that did a slight improvment but sounds like a german tank.

going to try and take it up to 200+ if i can and be quite interestid in the torque then.
