I was a bit 'what's all the fuss about?' when I first got it, but since then it's just grown on me so much, I can't part with it.

Often see similar comments in long term reviews of the mk7 gti.

I think the mk7 will be looked back upon as something special.

And that’s a very nice looking example, Ryan- I’d be very reluctant to sell that. Hope you make the right decision.

I'll just say a friend sold his mk7 as he grew bored of it and has regretted that decision since.
The overall comfort and package as a whole is unmatched unless you spend a fair bit more on another vehicle.

It does seem to perfectly blend everything you'd want from a daily.

I've never know a car so successfully get out of your way, and yet still be fun and engaging at the slightest opportunity.

This is not your average should I sell or not scenario. Normally you would be weighing up the pros and cons of moving to a new (probably but not always) better car and whether it is worth the financial outlay.

In this case, it is a life decision to fund a house build and you have to look at the bigger picture. If dropping out of performance hatch ownership for a few years is the price to pay to achieve that, it may well be worth it. You can always jump back in when ready.

Also, if you are doing some of the building work yourself, you may need a hack for transporting materials in addition to your Golf anyway. Depends if what else you have suits that job.

Very well said - this is exactly the mental battle I've had with myself daily. As baka says, it's the perfect daily driver and when you want it to be it can be extremely good fun.

I'm a bit stumped as to what price I'd put it up for sale for tbh, I've been offered £12,000 which is likely based on age, mileage and service history but when I look on Auto Trader there's a lot of crap for 12-13k.

When I bought it was quite a bit more than most other used GTI's but the previous owner who was a forum member on here went nuts with the spec sheet so to me it was worth the premium - would that still be the case, maybe, maybe not. For me, I always look to buy the best spec car available and if that means waiting X amount of months and paying more then so be it but I know not everyone will be the same.

I guess I could put it up for sale for what I'd be happy to let it go for and be patient the right buyer came along?

May be worth contacting Andrew @ Volkswizard as he is always on the look out for immaculate and slightly unusual GTI's (3 door and the Belvedere's being the unusual bit...).

That's not a bad shout to be fair, an option I hadn't thought of.

You’ll have to take the same approach to selling as you do buying.
If you want to sell (or buy for that matter) quick you have to accept what’s available at the time. If you’re more discerning then you’ll have to wait for someone like yourself to come along as a buyer and you’ll be glad that you did I reckon.
