Sourcing your GTI
« on: 04 January 2021, 15:45 »
Where did you guys source your Mk7 from? I’ve been after a GTI PP for around 6 weeks and using the usual places, AutoTrader, VW Approved, Car Guru, ebay, here even and its getting pretty tiresome :undecided:. Are there any other sources I’m not aware of that have sprung up or am missing?
Cheers

Have you looked on Facebook groups? There are quite a few MK7 owners groups, with GTI's up for sale

I bought my current GTi from a member ad on here. I sold my previous PP via Pistonheads.

Out of interest, what's the stumbling block? There are loads advertised on Autotrader (I was price benchmarking earlier with a view to selling mine, but it's a non-PP 17-plate), so are you fixed on specific options?

There are currently 107 nearly new (2018/2019) mk7.5 GTI Performance models for sale on Auto Trader, so there are cars out there. However, if your requirements are quite specific - e.g. colour, number of doors, certain options or you don’t want to travel too far from your home to find the ‘right’ car, then that 107 cars could become a significantly smaller number.

You could also try motors.co.uk, although I dare say most of the nearly new mk7.5 GTI Performance models for sale on there are probably also for sale on the sources you’ve listed.

Difficulty sourcing a mark 7 as opposed to a 7.5?

Its my own doing I’m afraid. I’ve  limited myself to Indium, Isaac or Tungsten at a real real push. It must have Pan Roof, DSG and preferably Brescias. I’ve enquired about all the ones for sale within my healthy budget but I keep hearing “alloys have been referbished , we’ll get a smart repair, that'll buff out” and I lose interest and walk away. I know the roof option really narrows things down but I had an Isaac GTI PP last year without one and really missed it.  It lasted 4 months before I sold it  :undecided:
I’ll keep on searching :nerd:

Why don't you just buy one you like and ignore the alloys? Damaged or not, you'll easily sell them for a good price and there are some bargains to be had a Brescias.

Are you looking for a Mk7.5? (2017 plate onwards)... if so are you sure the colours you mentioned were made???

As Watts says, damn the wheels, fit your own. Everyone curbs wheels, any that don't look curbed have been repaired, money on it.
