Drove home from a family visit near the west Norfolk coast today. Was amazed to see after an hour's steady run, mpg peaked at 49.4! It was only because I hit a faster road that it stopped going up. Amazing for this kind of car, I'm sure had the steady run continued it would've hit 50.

  nice! i do c. 60mpg on my way from the in-laws which is half-hour drive, mind you though it's downhill all the way to my home. Other than that i'm averaging 31mpg for the past 10k miles in a mixture of motorway, city drive and mountain drive. Pretty happy, if only 98ron prices went back to what they were a few months back

What do you do on the way there, slip stream or get a tow?

I saw a lovely Jensen Interceptor on the same route last year on the back of a truck. I reckon that was probably cheaper on fuel than driving the car!

I am amazed you’re getting nearly 50 out of a Clubsport. I am lucky to get anywhere near 40 taking it steady on a long run.

I regularly get 43/44 on a long run. Today's economy was a surprise, I'd have swapped it for clearer roads though!

never on the slip stream, too afraid of nasty stone chips  yeah forgot to mention that on my way up there it's a nightmare in terms of consumption but kind of evens itself out on the return leg
