The more I see of the standard wheels, the more I think they look fine.

Congrats BillSan! The best colour too (ok, after Moonstone it is)

I don’t mind the design of the original wheels myself aside from the offset is too high.
Mind you I like the mk7.5 Parkers too
Some nice aftermarket wheels will be a lot better though!  :cool:

Another vote for the standard wheels. Agreed that when you gaze at them for a while they could fill the arches a wee bit better but when I’ve seen GTIs out and about, they look fine.

I agree.  Mine have really grown on me.  That's not to say that I think they're great and wouldn't consider a new set, but I have definitely grown to like them.

Only from that side, though...  :grin:

Is that because they’re directional?

I agree, they do look better on the passenger side / near side of the car.

I had a mk4 Ford Escort XR3i back in the late 1980’s and the wheels on that car had directional spokes. I just found a picture of one on the internet and the wheels look tiny - they were 14” which was the norm for many warm / hot hatches in the day.

Mine was pretty much identical to the car at the link below, apart from the aftermarket front fog lights (mine didn’t have them).

Edit; oops, forgot to post the link;

What’s the consensus on fitting spacers to push the wheels out, presumably quite a lot cheaper than a whole new set. Thought they were bad but see Joe Achilles has them fitted to his new bmw.

Saw (or rather nearly hit head on in a narrow lane) my first clubsport in the wild. So far only seen a gtd, gti and the odd non performance model.

The std wheels have definitely grown on me and look good on the move.
