I've decided on 18" Borbet Y in Gloss Black, there wasn't much choice for winter tyres on 19". £656 (+£25 delivery) from Rimstyle, I'll post pictures when they're on the car hopefully next week, cheers everyone!

I’ve just been looking at these for running winters on. Look forward to seeing pics once fitted.
Which tyres have you gone for? Rimsyle’s choice online isn’t great.
Thanks.
Click on the link I put on page 2 there's a pic of mine on there. Got the wheels from Tyreleader and Goodyear winters from Mytyres £850

Thanks. Yours looks good! Tempted to go graphite now   Tyreleader aren’t doing wheels at the moment.
Rimstyle seem a good price for the alloys, then just decide on tyres!

I've not ordered tyres from Rimstyle, going to get them ordered online. Protyre has some decent deals of between £50-£80 off a set of 4 All Seasons, so its narrowed down to 3 choices, probably Goodyear Vector or Michellin Crossclimate

Ok thanks. If I’m going for a set of winter wheels then I’m thinking I’ll go for a winter tyre rather than an all season, as I won’t be running them all year. Interested to hear your thoughts on this?

I think it depends on your situation, if you deal with a lot of snow then Winter tyres would be the most appropriate. I've done some reading and it's generally recommended to use All Seasons in the UK as our Winter's tend to be wet rather than snowy.

I'll be running the Winter wheels for 6 months, so they'll be seeing (hopefully) some dry days too, where the All Seasons would outperform the Winter tyres.

Are you still after a set of 19's for your car as I've a set of genuine 19" Bresica alloys in vgc, ceramioc coated with part worn Pirelli's on them

I’m assuming @Aparat is asking whether or not the alloys sold by CMWheels have been safety certified (TUV, ABE, JWL or equivalent).

@Aparat; in answer to your question, I don’t know, but hopefully someone who has bought wheels from CMWheels can answer your question as;
  • the wheels should be stamped with the appropriate safety certification mark on the reverse of the spokes if they’ve been tested and passed the tests and
  • they should have been provided with a copy of the certificate when they bought the wheels

Surprisingly CMWheels reps do have some sort of certification but how rigorous the testing is would be anyone’s guess - if you can fake a wheel design then faking a safety test stamp isn’t exactly going to be a challenge!
Quality doesn’t seem that bad actually.

Agree, faking the safety test stamp won’t be too challenging to a proficient faker. It’d be interesting to know who the actual manufacturer is of the reps that CMWheels sell.

Yes, the quality does seem OK - those over on VWROC forum who’ve bought Pretoria reps from CMWheels seem to be pretty happy with the quality, and I can’t recall reading of any instances of CMWheels Pret reps cracking or buckling, unlike like the OEM Prets.

CMWheels might have more than one supplier or if a single ‘middleman’ then certainly they acquire wheels from more than one factory from my own observations.
The wheels seem to come in varying widths, offsets and centre bores seemingly depending on which batch.
Paint quality seems ok, but there are one or two slight imperfections which to be fair I’ve seen on OEM wheels and upmarket aftermarket too, so for the price...
