Reflex Silver is definitely my pick of the colours for the mk8. In the flesh it's head and shoulders over the others, but I've not seen Atlantic blue.

The lack of comments on dcc was frustrating but i think you'd need to test it both with and without to get the real answer.

Also that car had eighteens retro fitted with non mk8 nineteens on it. On the mk8 the suspension is tuned for the wheel size in the factory. I think it would be unfair to comment on the ride much under those circumstances.

My test drive of the normal gti on eighteens was perfect without dcc though...

Saw an Atlantic Blue yesterday and quite liked it. There are maybe two schools of thought (i) the best colours that suit the GTI and show it off best 'as a GTI' and (ii) colours that perhaps tone it down so that it flies under the radar a bit - something I might consider given where I live.....

Starting to check out the discounts available - my ideal specification is £39,920 OTR according to the VW configurator (trying to keep it under 40k)

Checked Drive the Deal and can get £5,647 discount, which makes it £34,272 - roughly 14% off list.  Not bad at all

If you go all the way through DTD to get a quote, do you get contacted? I seem to remember running through a quote with them a few years back and had a bloke on the 'phone within half an hour asking me if I wanted to proceed. It may have been that I ticked a certain box on the way through....

When I bought my GTI through them, from memory you have to select "submit enquiry" (i think) or if not it is "order car" before they contact you
GTI 7.5 Performance 5dr DSG Tornado Red - completely standard spec as - it comes out of the tin as they say

You do know that the £40k is based on 'list price' not 'OTR price'?

The £40k 'list price' limit is the RRP, VAT, delivery charges and pre-delivery inspection charges. It doesn't include the first registration fee or the cost of first VED. So on the Clubsport you have an extra £595 to play with. :)

I didn’t know that, thank you

I didn’t think the suspension was different wether you chose 18 or 19”s from new, the only difference is with 19”s you get the black plastic winglets on the arches. There’s no mention of different suspension setups depending on what wheel choice you go for on the configurator

On the Irish product guide / configurator it says you must spec either Adaptive chassis or “sport suspension for 19’s” (which is zero cost, but it’s not clear at all what exactly the difference is). Exact wording re this suspension is:

Note: Must be ordered in conjunction with PDF (Sports Suspension for 19” alloy wheels) on GTI / GTD models for €0.
MK8.5 GTI Clubsport. Moonstone grey. Queenstown 19’s. DCC. Harmon Kardon sound. Pano roof.

I think that was on the configurator a few weeks ago but seems to have been removed now the GTI as been ‘reuploaded’
