Mk7 to Mk 7.5
« on: 09 September 2020, 11:12 »
Hi all,

Am along time lurker and thought I'd sign up as I have a few questions.

I have a 14 plate GTi PP which I am looking to replace very soon. I will be very imaginative and replace it with a 7.5 PP

Question 1: is there any thing I need to watch out for that is unique to 7.5 PP ownership? I will be buying a <25k miles one
Question 2: replacing the 18" "Parker/ Milton" alloys. What were VW thinking? I'd like to put a set of Mk7 "Austin" 18" alloys as a swap. I assume the fitments are the same? Same offset / PCD stud pattern etc?

Many thanks,

V

All 18 inch OEM wheels (Golf / A3 / Octavia/ Leon) should fit no problem.

7.5J wide, 5 x 112 bolt pattern and offset 49.

No problem.

7.5 GTi Performance comes with 245PS, 7 speed DSG and a petrol particulate filter.

Mk7 PP comes with 230PS, 6 speed DSG and no PPF.

Spec varies between model years, so it may be the case that you have things not available on the 7.5 and vice versa.

Thanks for the info. So I will be getting a manual - interesting point about the GPF - hadn't thought about that. Has anyone experienced any problems with GPFs? I know the diesel ones (DPF) can be problematic if the engine's use doesn't allow for the regen process to happen. I assume with petrol there aren't the same issues?

Is there much difference between the Milton / Parker and Austin wheels?

Perhaps I am one of the few but I really like the parker alloys! Look smart and easy to keep clean as the bits of the wheel that often accumulates brakes dust are gloss black!
GTI 7.5 Performance 5dr DSG Tornado Red - completely standard spec as - it comes out of the tin as they say
