Racechip XLR pedal box
« on: 03 September 2020, 11:20 »
Hi
Last week took my Clubsport to Awesome GTI in Manchester for a service.Whilst there got them to fit the XLR pedalbox. Its been on a week now and I feel able to comment.
To put this in context my previous car was an Audi SQ5 with the stonking 3litre bi turbo. Its strength was that when you pressed the pedal at any revs it just went,no lag mostly you didn't realise it was a turbo engine at all.The GTI is different and I feel that you really have to keep the revs up to stay on boost which makes it just as quick and loads of fun on the right roads but you can get caught out waiting for boost at other times.
The xlr has a rotary dial starting at econ+ going 7 clicks to race+,N in the middle is same as stock.Started in S and found an immediate change in response ie if you say at 1500 rpm normal the response would be a bit slow with a wait for boost to build at 3500.Not now!Even on one click up from stock at S you get an immediate response,no hesitation just go......Have worked my way up to Race+ and it just gets response just gets faster and faster its brilliant!
I have now set the car up in individual with everything set at sport but the engine set at ECO with XLR set at RACE.With this I can drive in town etc in ECO but with fantastic response but when I pull the lever back into sport it turns into a bit of a beast. My powervalue exhaust also plays into this as it relatively quiet below 3500 so in ECO I can go quietly along but with good response but if I want speed and noise pull back for S and I can assess that immediately.I feel I hardly ever have to wait for boost now ...bang it's on it!Even if in ECO 5 in town a flex of your foot really gets it going!
I considered this mod for weeks and can only say its brilliant and really gives me 2 different cars!Anyone considering this route....just do it,you will never look back!
Final test of it is to put it into N (Stock) honestly it feels like you are towing a caravan!

I have a pedalbox on mine and love it too. Such a difference. As to the turbo being on boost though, it's not that it is off boost it is just a delay in response from the pedal, dead travel...

Yes understand what you mean about boost was just a way to describe the feeling like an old 911 turbo!
But sorted out now...love it!

Just wondering if there's a way of sharpening throttle response without a pedal box after sifting through the settings and reading of OBD Eleven?

We have "relative throttle position", "  commanded throttle actuator", "accelerator pedal position A, B, C, D, F" etc.

Just a bit apprehensive about adjusting without anyone else having tried it.
Whey ya bugger! It's finally arrived after an 8 month wait....

I think those response curves are in a controller that only lets you set profile 1,2 or 3 etc. You can't reprogram the curve, the controller doesn't expose its curve configuration to software change - any more than you can adjust DCC profile settings. The subsystem controllers are hardcoded.
