I picked up a Sachs uprated clutch with 500 miles on and had it fitted on my stage 1 GTI but something is still slipping?!

It slips briefly then bites under load at around 3k rpm, to be honest it was identical on the old clutch. Have I been sold a dud clutch or could something else cause this?

Thanks

Sounds unlikey it's a dud if the old clutch was doing the same thing.

You say you had the clutch changed, are you still using the original dual mass flywheel.
Was that checked over before fitment? If the surface of the flywhel that makes contact with clutch friction plate was scored or not even that could result in some slippage?
Was the secondhand clutch in like new condition, if it wasn't run in correctly, the friction plate may have some glazing that would prevent it "gripping".
Have a word with the person who fitted the clutch to confirm above thoughts?

Reports are that the DMF were ok, phone the garage bought the second hand clutch off and they obviously say everything shoukd be ok. I'm just going to drive it for a bit nice and steady to prevent any further glazing and potentially even out any scoring and keep my fingers crossed 😬🤞
