My opinion.

Headlights
A few owners on here if you look back have complained of them being set too low. Including me.
The failure wouldn’t be a major concern to me if there’s no obvious crash repair.
I also know some mot centres fail on a headlight to get an extra £30 out of you. Happened to me years ago on a 3 year Bmw that had never been crashed.

Tyres
If you look at mot failures, a lot of cars fail on worn tyres. Some owners run the tyres down and wait for the next mot/service to get them sorted out. I bulge may not have been visible to the owner.

If the car checks out with no accident damage I don’t see any concern.

Big plus that it’s been serviced at Vw. Shows the owner wasn’t quick to save a few pound going to a back street garage. Also check to see what tyres are on it. Chinese crap or a brand shows the owner cared.

Don’t forget to check the dsg has been serviced if it’s got one. And also the diff.

All the tyres are Pirelli so that's all good even though Michelin PS4's are the best  Thanks for your response

How about the old trick of checking front and rear number plates to see if the dealer is the same.
Difference shows they might have replaced the front if it’s been in an accident?

Great, idea. I've checked and both number plates are the same however they have the dealership that is currently selling it. It's an independent dealer not VW FYI.

Maybe if you post a link to the car we might get a better judgment on the car and dealer I can’t honestly see any of the few thousand forum members rushing to buy it compared to the millions of people going through adverts online

What sort of person takes a car for an MOT for it to fail on tyres?

That would put me right off!

I know a few. They just see it as part of the service of the MOT and expect them to do the leg work.

Is it just me or does the bonnet look peppered with stone chips or has it just visited a cheap car wash all it’s life and the drivers bolster needs done by looks of it
And if u can see a dealers name on either of those plates your eyes are better than mine
