Some insurers haven't been updating the write off's database "quickly" so you do have to be really careful. AXA was the example I saw on the TV.

Not really sure how you can be careful though.
Yeah, I wonder, the engine bay on the car is incredibly clean on one side since the photo is taken from a certain side and so I cant tell whether the other side is as clean but this could be a sign of it being repaired from a font end collision, which may explain the bad headlamp alignment on the car's MOT or it could be a really good detail. There's no way of telling from the photos, a viewing is probably required but its quite a distance from me so not so easy to just pop down.

An hpi check won’t tell you if the cars ever been in a smash it would only flag up if the car had been written off  :smiley there is millions of cars on our roads that’s been smashed and not written off some repaired right some not

Like my 2007 Golf GT Sport 170TDI that got hit by a bus at 2 weeks old and was never right since with a piss poor repair. So close to being written off at the time.

Some poor unsuspecting soul would've bought that from Lookers Newcastle and wondered why the rear wheel arch rusted up every 3 months.

I see this happening daily cars being repaired and some of them not very well

To the OP - you need to view the car and have a really good look over it. And or get an independent assessment. With those options I would think it more likely a privately owned car than a lease. How many owners has it had? Check for repainted/replaced panels. When you're in front of it all may be clear either way. And see if the buckled wheel has been replaced although if it is minor and balances okay it shouldn't be a problem.

Is the need for leather worth overlooking all those warning flags you've already uncovered?
The leather is defiantly a luxury, but a nice one. I want at the very least heated seats, nav and PP, leather I can let slide for the perfect car but i'm not a great fan of the tartan cloth. Still rare without the leather though and I have been chasing cars without the leather but things like gaps in the MOT and service history have meant I havent gone with them. This one does have a full VW service history and when the MOT has been done, although there are a lot of questions on them, every time they have had the work done for everything, no left over advisories or anything.

Full Vw history doesn’t mean it hasn’t been smashed or indeed abused it just means one of the owners has been shafted everytime it’s entered the dealer

Yeah, I assume the wheel has been repaired since it wasn't on the next MOT as an advisory and it has only had one previous owner, 2015 reg car as well FYI. Thanks for all of your guys responses, I appreciate it.

These were all standard from around a 65 plate iirc. So a good 65 PP, should be loads of those?
