I managed to catch the other front alloy on the curb last night! If I didn't laugh about it I'd cry 🤣. I think I'll wait a few months to see how I get on before doing anything to the wheels.

I've checked my tyres, all budget and one bridgestone. There's quite a bit of road noise in the cabin so I guess the tyres aren't helping with that.

Thanks for the advice with the 19's 👍

Are you just skimming them or is it a proper scrape? If it's just a skim, changing those crap tyres out for something with a lip would help. Michelin PS4 have about 8mm lip protecting the rim.

If you've done 2 wheels now, I'd definitely go with powder coating and a tyre change if you've got the readies.

Thats actually something to consider actually. I've got "neo sport" on the fronts that it came with but the rears got michellin ps4. I'm waiting for the fronts to go before I replace them.

Today gave it a wash and they look quite clean actually as the guy I gave it to worked his magic. I'm letting that settle in my mind so they don't bother me anymore

I really can't justify buying new tyres right now

I've noticed a few websites mention the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5 tyres as well? They seem a bit cheaper too.

I wouldn't read too much into that. Most rim protectors can be pushed back slightly with your thumb, so imagine what a car heading towards a curb can do to it.

There is a place in Derby - Diamondalloysuk that I am going to try for one diamond cut alloy as near my commute. Won't be til after Xmas though. Going to have a recce in the next couple of weeks.

Have used Perfection Wheels near Leicester in the past with good results on my Monza shadows - still OK after 8 years.
Mk6 GTI Carbon Grey, 2010 Bluetooth and voice fitted, a few VCDS mods still a comfortable family car. Red Scirocco 2011 twin charger stage 1 - enjoyable drive now gone.  White 2016 Polo GTI (roller skate on steroids) replaced with an Indium Grey 2019 7.5 GTI PP.

Diamondalloys are on the same estate as I work, can't tell you what kind of quality work they do unfortunately.
