Wheel swapping help
« on: 21 June 2020, 16:11 »
Wheels are not my area of expertise, hopefully someone can let me know if this is correct.

I currently run the standard 18" Parker alloys on my 7.5 GTI with factory tyres.

I am hopefully purchasing a new set of alloys with tyres. These will be the standard 18" 7.5 GTD Seville's which were also the same design as the optional GTI Graphite with red pinstripe. The set I am hopefully purchasing have been sprayed gloss black.

Im presuming this be a straight swap over in terms of fitment? Also amusing the new set have been balanced. They came with VW centre caps.

Additionally anything else that would need doing?

Thanks in advance

Thank you for the reply, however doesn't look like its going to happen now as the seller has gone cold.

Opportunity has come up to purchase 19" Gloss black Prets for my black GTI, which I think would look amazing.

As the 19" Prets have a lower profile tyre, Im guessing its also a straight swap?

Yes, it’ll be a straight swap.

You may notice a slightly firmer ride if you go from 18” to 19” wheels. Also tyres likely to cost more - although to some extend, that’ll depend on brand of tyre and whether there are any special offers on at the time you need tyres. There may also be a greater risk of kerbing with 19’s compared to 18’s when negotiating high kerbstones - e.g. when parallel parking.
2020 Polo GTI Plus; Pure White, DSG (because they all are)
Gone but not forgotten;
2016 Polo GTI; Blue Silk
2011 mk6 Golf GTD; Carbon Grey
2007 mk5 Golf GT (2.0 170bhp TDI version); Deep Black Pearl
2002  mk4 Golf GTI (the 150 bhp diesel version); Deep Black Pearl

Anyone know if you can fit 4x 19"'s with tyres on in the back of a golf?
