I download as it's quicker than ripping a CD. Usually the download comes with artwork. No biggie for me on the rare occasion it doesn't.

I just have a folder for each Artist, with album folder within, and the FLAC/MP3s within that.

Can I ask where you are downloading the music from?

It's the same process for all vw nab systems. Stick the files on a sd card, play them.
I never did that on the nav pro. I put my cd's in and ripped them to the hard drive.

It's going to be built regardless Jim. I messaged someone from VW Germany who was quite high up not expecting an answer but he actually did. Just said that any vehicles that had been ordered and were in the pipeline would be built and delivered.

Ah ok, It's just started your post with IF which adds doubt
I'm still sceptical with any info I get from VW

I never knew it could do that.

I knew you could copy files from the SD card to the hard drive, but its a pain in the bum and the drive is tiny vs modern SD card sizes and you still need to copy the stuff onto the card in the first place.

Clunky old out of date automotive technology as always.

I'm maybe looking at a SSD drive to plug straight into the usb port. Small one obviously 😂

You've caught me on the one day in the last ten in which I have used my car to take the less than 1 mile trip to the supermarket rather than looking longingly out of the window at it .

SD cards work best if you have full albums.  I ripped a load of mine from CDs when I first bought the car.  One thing is that it doesn't work well with mix albums or anything where there isn't a gap between tracks as you will get a small pause between them.

When naming tracks I seem to recall it is best to use track number / name as the convention (eg. 1_trackname) in order that they play back in the right order.  All tracks for a given album should be in the same folder.  Most rippers will take care of the artwork for you.

I spent a fair bit of time prepping this before I got the car as I had a few months to wait for delivery, but to be honest since then all of my listening has been via Apple Music / Carplay or Spotify / Android Auto depending on the phone that I have had at the time.

Some photos of my slightly dusty car.  A job for the weekend maybe.

With track playing

Edit:  dropbox doesn't seem to want to render this one the right way round!

I'd go with SD card. Big capacities are relatively cheap and you'll not find another use for your SD slot. A USB slot has plenty of other possibilities e.g. phone charging.
Whey ya bugger! It's finally arrived after an 8 month wait....

Are these albums you've paid for Phil or just downloaded from Amazon music?

I never like a whole album. I just buy tracks from Amazon music. They seem to vary between 69p & 99p a track......

For not much money I can buy enough good tunez to last my entire journey to work without having to listen to Zoe Ball or Amanda Holden woffle sh1te inbetween tracks.

Sadly I can't get Jenni Falconer up here or I might listen to the radio..... :embarrassed:
