50 extra bhp in sport mode...

Eh?. When was this introduced? To the best of my knowledge (2 Gti's and 2 R's), Sport mode changes the throttle response, stiffens the suspension and changes the steering response. but at no time does it increase the power available.

I stand to be corrected but I think you have misread something or someone has been telling you porkies.

Whoosh

Have to admit, its a pita for me.

The mode button is out of sight from my driving position so fumble around for it (muscle memory will probably come as use it more maybe?), then having to look to the screen isn't ideal.

Much prefer the rocker style on old m135 - forwards sports - middle comfort - back eco etc

You'll find it easy enough after a while - it's the top left button so you have a nice edge to feel for

It's designed for LHD so it's close to the driver - no idea why an electronic button couldn't be moved for RHD markets

Takes the edge off when you have to write or say the word 'joking'...

I find eco mode horrible in my manual GTi. Literally feels like the boost has been halved. Don’t think it actually saves that much fuel from the times I’ve tried it. I’d maybe try the car in normal mode for drive.

Thanks,

Eco mode makes it a day to day car, sport mode is when i want to go wild.

My GTI can't change suspension settings. Its a very nice balance between smooth and on rails though!

Took van and partners car A1 for a drive today. Audis been sat for 3 weeks and told me battery was draining. Once a week now.

Took the Golf out afterwards in sport mode the full time. Nice to drive the sluggish van and a good nippy quick A1 then get into the GTI to appreciate it. Don't feel the true performance as much as a day to day.

This!

OP - why not enjoy your car day to day, presumably that's why you bought a GTI? That's why I've bought a second one, because every drive, no matter how short or how long, is fun, even commuting. I just can't understand your reasoning.
