Update : car was at dealers yesterday to get a rubber mount replaced as it was worn & caused a rattling noise. While there they had a look at this paint issue & have sent a request to VW to replace the whole bootlid. Even started they would cover getting ceramic coating on the new panel so happy days😎
Just check the paint they do matches your car
Will do.... Presumably pure white can't be that hard to match with paint code but then again take nothing for granted I guess 😂
Pure White ought to be one of the easier colours to match but agree, you shouldn’t take anything for granted.
When it’s been done, don’t forget to check that the paint finish as well as colour match is to factory standard - might be worth taking someone impartial with you to check over the new panel/paintwork; someone who has no emotional attachment to the car that can give an unbiased opinion on the quality of repair.
If the new panel is fitted to the car prior to painting, don’t forget to check adjacent panels, around the tailgate opening and pieces of trim for any paint overspray and any ‘hard’ edges from masking off. Hopefully, any items of trim at risk from overspray will either be removed or completely protected / masked off, but take nothing for granted.
