Err much more than that.

Your car must be low miles with decent spec

£10k must be well under the 4 year GFV, surely? I'd expect about £13-14k p/x on a 3.5 year old GTI PP, and expect them to be selling it for £17-18k.

Let me know when yours is 42 months old, I've got £10k waiting in the bank for it.

A friend’s r was nearly going back to dealer for just shy of 9k granted it was a 14plate but dealers always try offer way less than market value

Yes, they always try to low ball you to increase their margin on selling it (maybe 25% markup for them vs what they gave you for it). While you're under the confines of PCP though, if they try to offer you less than GFV for your term, you'd hand the car back and start afresh with a new PCP. £9K for a 6 year old R seems a little low, but at that age I doubt the VW dealers are too interested in it being on their forecourt - probably got shipped off to auction.

I got £17300 for my (then) 46 month old R manual with Prets through an indie, best offer on table with local dealerships was £15500. However- I still had the remainder of 5 year extended factory warranty left,  which was a big incentive for the Indy to pay what they did.
Whey ya bugger! It's finally arrived after an 8 month wait....

30k miles and DCC, tech pack, HBA. 5 door. You'd be better off telling me what you want to offer. Private sale will be more than what I've been offered trade in.

No I was thinking maybe you should toss a quick ad up as I know you’ll probably get more than dealers offered

Tried it before too everyone wants to know what your part-ex price then offer you £100 more for the hassle of communication/delivery and anxiety of whether you'll get paid in time. It's even more of a hassle if the car's PCP'd and you've got to get VWFS in the mix to get the new buyer to clear the balance...

I personally wouldn't bother unless there was at least a grand more than p/x in play.

I bought my GTD off a guy who was trading it in that day, exactly £100 more than trade in and he was happy. He didn’t have finance though so I do understand that makes it a bit more tricky.

That's fine when you're selling to friends or family and you know they won't let you down in getting the money ready when you need it, close enough to the day you're getting your new car so as not to leave you carless for a period.

Putting an ad on here and having 3 people saying they'll have it but fail to bite the bullet and buy...it's a lot of ball ache for £100.

So still no movement. Five weeks since it left the factory and still no ship allocation. Apparently cars destined for the North East don't always go to Port of Tyne and quite often go to Grimsby. Grimsby had a vehicle carrier in yesterday and another arriving tomorrow yet Tyne has nothing else this month.
