A lot of used low mileage Gti's 7.5 appeared on the Das WeltAuto website today.

Obviously the Mk8 is imminent so they are keen to move stock but what is the likely source of cars about 10 months old with less than 3,000 miles on the clock?  VWUK cars or lease, unlikely to be private purchases.

Similar to mine I guess. I've got one of the oddball pre-WLTP MK7.5s before they shut the factory and order books.

I'm assuming like this...

VW push along a load of cars with the customer orders and stockpile them. These are all registered and given to VW staff to run around in, which are then dropped into the dealer network. Sorry, Sir, we don't know when you'll get a new one, why not have one of these??

So, there'll be a load of the last batch of GTIs to tempt people into rather than waiting for a MK8 GTI??

^^ Maybe VW are starting to do short term leases to generate used stock?

My consulting boss gets a new Kia every 6 months through some specialist profession corporation lease lease. All to feed the nearly new stock of his.supplying dealership. Maybe something similar going on?

They need to give the dealerships something to sell in that 4  months or so between new 7.5s ceasing production for the UK and the first 8s coming through.

Ford used to have an employee scheme whereby you could run a Ford for nowt (I'm talking 25 years ago!) if you kept chopping it in every 6-12months. You'd buy it on an interest free loan and then chop it in for what you paid for it. The used cars used to go to dealerships or "Frog Island" where employees family/friends and associated contractor employees could buy them at great prices. I really wanted an Escort Cosworth when I was 20. I could have afforded the car from Frog Island, but not the insurance!
Whey ya bugger! It's finally arrived after an 8 month wait....

I'm down the road from Bentley, so know a few people there. After a few years you get an allowance for a short term car (6 months or xxxx miles) with super strict ownership terms. There's "deals' given on certain cars that have high demand in the used network.

They're generally very good used buys, as they've been kept so well.

I noticed that a 67 plate Non Performance car I checked out at my local dealership last September is still for sale, albeit it has been moved within the network. The only difference now, is that it is being advertised for £4K less than 6 months ago!

100+ TCRs appeared almost overnight, did the used price of those no favours.

Mercedes run a similar scheme (or they certainly used to) for their staff - they can have a new Mercedes or Smart car every six months at preferential rates. The Mercedes / Smart arrangement also had very strict ownership terms.

Yes VW do and have done a 6 month contract hire for employees for set retailer groups that want to opt into the scheme.

6 months based on 1000 miles per month

For example at the moment you could have a Polo GTI plus for £209 a month

20 something years ago, I used to be a salesman at a Fiat dealership.

We were offered these sort of schemes. I got my Dad a Brava on PCP. £500 down, £14 a month for a year then chop it in with about £1000 equity in it.

I never had one, in fact many of us would prefer to not have a company car at all. instead we would ride around in whatever used car had a tax disc in it.
Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.
